In late October I was contacted by Grong Sparebank asking if I could make a short commercial for their Namsos departments 10th year anniversary. The movie should reflect the fast growth by the bank since they started up back in 2005 and also emphasize the good collaboration with the real estate agent Boli that had helped both parties reach their goals. At first, the movie was supposed to be a scribble-movie, but because the anniversary was taking place already in november I didn’t have several weeks to finish the project. So the solution was to make a picture illustration featuring several different scenes where the camera zoomed and panned between the different elements.
Gong Sparebank’s logo displays a large oak, and they put forward that this tree could be used as a design element to illustrate the growth of the bank. We then decided to use the area inside the oak to display the other elements that all together should tell the story in the movie. Because the movie should also display the bank’s and Boli’s logos at the end, it was natural to use the logos as the picture illustration and create the elements inside the oak in that environment.
With 5 elements needed to be placed inside the oak – now only a part of the whole illustration – it early became apparent that this illustration needed to be a very large to be able to zoom an pan into the small elements and still keeping the movie full HD..! The result turned out to be a huge picture in 5 x HD (9600 x 5400 pixels) – or 52 megapixels as said when talking photography. Further, we decided that the illustration had to be a drawing to give the impression we was looking for (starting out as a scribble-idea). Stine Lyngmo aka. Tantestreker created the drawing and the visual impressions that should strengthen the story in the text parts. The drawing itself was made digitally in Adobe Photoshop. After the drawing was finished I had to import if into Final Cut Pro X and edit the zoom and pan movements there. On an iMac with a 512MB graphic card and 16GB RAM this became a quite challenging task. To put it in other words – it hardly went well due to the (too) low specs of the iMac…!
After the movie was finished, I wrote a short “feelgood”-tune on my acoustic guitar and recorded it later that night. Everything was mixed in Logic Pro X where I also a track of bass. All the rest is just acoustic guitar. Quite fun to also score the music myself!
A big thank you to Stine aka. Tantestreker for the collaboration on this project – I hope we can repeat this at some point in the future 🙂
As the text in this movie is in norwegian, here is the translation in english:
“Grong Sparebank 10 years in Namsos” (the scene actually shows a map of the Namsos-area coast line).
“We help you make good decisions”.
“We contribute to growth and well-bering in the local community”.
“Come to us if you’re buying of selling property”.
“We’ve grown from tiny to large, but we still have place for more (customers)”.
Scene 6 (written underneath the oak);
“A robust tree has got space for many leafs. Come to us to get good advises!”
