During the winter, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Begna Bruk AS to upgrade their website. Begna Bruk AS is a sawmill that produces (among other things) specially dried and strength graded lumber used in constructions (gluelam and roof-constructions). The mill has since 1962 been one of the largest industrial factories in the municipality of Sør-Aurdal in Oppland, Norway. Their old website was not mobile responsive and was designed several years ago when computer screens were small and had much lower resolution than they have today. As a result, it appeared small and outdated on both PC screens and handheld devices.
Their new site is built on the Genesis Framework from StudioPress, using a child theme called “Outreach Pro”. Their logo and graphical profile was not to be renewed at this point, so most of their old design was transferred to the new site. But all the pics are new and edited to keep the loading time of the site as short as possible. Begna Bruk AS provided all the photos used on the site. I also used Font Awesome to give the site some more graphical elements in addition to the photos. These web fonts are light loading and brings nice design elements to the overall look of the website.
The home page features a slider linking to the different sub pages. Have a look at the website here, and please leave a comment on what you think of this design!
